Aevo Adds Options-Based Protection to Mobile Perpetual Futures With PERPS+ Launch

Decentralized derivatives exchange Aevo has rolled out a new feature, PERPS+, on its mobile application, bringing simplified, options-based risk protection to perpetual futures traders. The update, announced by the company on July 19, achieves full feature parity between Aevo's mobile and desktop platforms.
Simplified Risk Management for Perpetuals
PERPS+ is designed to integrate the protective qualities of options directly into the perpetual futures trading experience without requiring specialized knowledge. According to the announcement, traders can select from three predefined risk management strategies when opening a position for BTC or ETH perpetuals.
Aevo executes the underlying options structure in a single transaction. The available modes include:
- Limit My Loss: This caps the maximum potential loss on a position while leaving the upside unlimited.
- Get Paid to Hold: Traders receive an upfront premium in exchange for a capped profit level.
- Lock My Range: This sets both a profit ceiling and a loss floor, often for a near-zero net cost.
Market Context and Strategy
AdThe launch aims to bridge the gap between the high-volume perpetuals market and the more complex world of options. Many leveraged traders avoid options due to their complexity, leaving positions unprotected. "We thought, what if getting options-level protection felt exactly like trading a perp? That’s PERPS+," an Aevo spokesperson said in the release.
The feature targets two main user groups: perpetuals traders seeking simple downside protection and decentralized finance (DeFi) users who want the structured payoffs of a vault but with direct control over their positions. Aevo reports it has processed over $10 billion in options volume since 2020.
Technical and Tokenomic Details
Aevo operates on a custom Ethereum Layer-2 that utilizes an off-chain order book for execution speed combined with on-chain settlement. The platform also features aeUSD, a yield-bearing stablecoin that serves as trading collateral across all products.
The platform's native AEVO token has a deflationary supply mechanism, according to the company. Exchange revenue is used for a monthly buyback and burn program, which has reportedly removed 74 million AEVO from circulation to date. The company also noted that all scheduled token unlocks for investors were completed in mid-2025.
