Zura Bio Stock Surges After Wedbush Issues Buy Rating Ahead of Key Trial Data

Shares of Zura Bio Ltd. (ZURA) surged as much as 22% in intraday trading on Tuesday, marking the stock's largest single-day gain since January 21. The rally was triggered by a bullish analyst note from Wedbush, which recommended buying the stock ahead of upcoming clinical trial results for an experimental drug.
Wedbush Cites Favorable Outlook
Wedbush analysts Martin Fan and Abigail Lau reiterated their Outperform rating on Zura Bio and maintained a $22 price target. In their note, the analysts stated they would be "aggressive buyers" of the stock while it remains below $4 per share.
The positive outlook is centered on the upcoming fourth-quarter data readout from the TibuSHIELD trial. This study is evaluating the company's experimental drug, tibulizumab, as a treatment for the skin disease hidradenitis suppurativa. The analysts noted that results could be released as early as November, as the trial had already exceeded its enrollment targets as of June 26.
Risk/Reward Analysis
AdWedbush's investment thesis hinges on a favorable risk-to-reward profile for investors. The analysts estimate potential downside is protected at around $3 per share, a valuation supported by the company's fundamentals.
This downside calculation is based on:
- A cash position of approximately $1.50 per share.
- An estimated valuation of roughly $2 per share for the drug's potential use in systemic sclerosis.
Conversely, the analysts see significant upside potential, projecting that the stock could trade above $20 per share if tibulizumab demonstrates strong efficacy in the trial. This outcome would signal its potential as a leading monotherapy for hidradenitis suppurativa.
