Zijin Gold Stock Jumps on 179% Profit Surge and First-Ever Interim Dividend

Summary
Shares of Zijin Gold International surged after the company reported a 179% jump in first-half net profit, driven by higher output and gold prices, and announced its inaugural interim dividend.
Shares of Zijin Gold International rallied 4.5% to HK$133.3 on Monday after the company released a strong set of interim financial results for the six months ending June 30, 2026, and declared its first-ever interim dividend.
Blockbuster Earnings Performance
Zijin Gold reported that net profit attributable to shareholders surged approximately 179% year-over-year to $1.451 billion USD. Revenue for the period nearly doubled, reaching approximately $3.987 billion USD, according to the company's filing.
The robust results were underpinned by two key factors:
- A 44% increase in mine-produced gold output to approximately 27.3 tonnes.
- Elevated realized gold prices during the period.
The company noted that the full operational integration of mines acquired in 2025, specifically the Akyem Gold Mine in Ghana and the Raygorodok Gold Mine in Kazakhstan, were significant contributors to the growth in production and profit.
AdShareholder Returns and Financial Health
Adding to investor optimism, Zijin's board declared the company’s first-ever interim dividend of HK$1.5 per share, payable on September 24, 2026. The move is widely seen as a signal of management’s confidence in the sustainability of the company's cash flows.
Zijin's financial position also strengthened significantly. Operating cash flow surged by approximately 331% year-over-year, and its debt-to-asset ratio declined to 36%. Management maintained its full-year gold production guidance, reassuring investors that the strong first-half momentum is expected to continue.
Market Context
The stock's advance occurred amid a broader rally in Hong Kong equities, with the Hang Seng index gaining 1.5% during the session. Zijin's strong operational results and new dividend policy helped it stand out as a top performer.
