Trump's Air Force One Flight Delayed by Inadvertent Slide Deployment

U.S. President Donald Trump's departure for Texas on Wednesday was briefly delayed after an emergency slide unexpectedly deployed on the Air Force One aircraft. The incident occurred on the tarmac shortly before the president was scheduled to board for a trip to Dallas.
Tarmac Incident
According to a Reuters report, the slide appeared to deploy on one side of the presidential jet just before Trump was due to travel to the first-ever Republican midterm convention. The president remained on the Marine One helicopter for approximately 20 minutes after it landed near the plane.
After the delay, ground crews were seen taking the emergency slide away. President Trump then proceeded to board the aircraft for the scheduled flight.
President Addresses Safety
AdBefore boarding, Trump spoke with reporters on the tarmac. When asked by a journalist if he was sure the plane was safe to fly, the president responded, "Yeah, I am, or I wouldn’t be on it."
Aircraft Background
The aircraft involved is a Boeing 747 jumbo jet that the U.S. accepted as a gift from Qatar last year. The plane underwent an accelerated renovation effort before President Trump began using it for official travel on July 1.
