Travala Doubles AVA Token Buybacks, Creates Permanent Strategic Reserve

Summary
Crypto travel platform Travala is doubling monthly open-market repurchases of its native AVA token, with the new portion to be permanently locked in a strategic reserve, effectively reducing the token's circulating supply.
Crypto-native travel booking platform Travala announced it will double the monthly open-market buyback volume of its native AVA token through a new matching program. The company has established a permanent Strategic Reserve for the repurchased tokens, committing to never sell or transfer them, which will systematically reduce the token's circulating supply.
A New Dual-Buyback Structure
The initiative introduces a new buyback mechanism funded directly by Travala, which will run in parallel with the existing program managed by the AVA Foundation. Previously, the AVA Foundation repurchased AVA from the open market each month to replenish the rewards distributed to members of its AVA Smart Program.
Under the new structure, Travala will now match the Foundation's monthly repurchase amount, token for token. While the Foundation's buyback continues to refill the rewards pool, Travala's matching portion will be transferred to a new, publicly verifiable Travala AVA Strategic Reserve Wallet.
- Inaugural Buyback: The first matched buyback has already been completed for August's rewards.
- Foundation Repurchase: The AVA Foundation bought back 369,881.04 AVA.
- Travala's Match: Travala independently purchased an additional 369,881.04 AVA.
- Total Repurchased: A combined 739,762.08 AVA was removed from the open market.
Impact on Token Supply
AdTravala has committed that all AVA held in the Strategic Reserve will be permanently locked and secured via multi-signature custody. This effectively removes the tokens from the circulating supply, a move designed to create a deflationary pressure that scales with platform usage.
"This matching buyback reflects just how integral AVA is to our ecosystem, and we’re proud to make that commitment permanent and fully verifiable for the community," said Juan Otero, CEO of Travala. The company stated it will request that data aggregators like CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko treat the reserve wallet's holdings as non-circulating. The reserve's on-chain address has been made public for verification.
Broader Context
The new tokenomics enhancement follows several positive developments for the project. AVA was recently listed on Bithumb's South Korean won (KRW) market, increasing its accessibility. Additionally, Amazon Web Services recently featured Travala as a customer case study for its Bedrock AgentCore payments platform, highlighting the travel firm's integration of conversational AI for bookings.
