The new depots are strategically located across Northern and Southern California to serve key logistics routes. According to Forum Mobility, the facilities will feature Tesla’s high-powered Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology alongside standard CCS ports to accommodate a variety of electric trucks.
Key locations for the new public Tesla-operated sites include:
- FM Francis in Ontario
- FM Adeline in Oakland
- FM Coliseum in Oakland
The depots are designed with pull-through lanes to optimize traffic flow and minimize downtime for commercial drivers, a crucial factor for logistics operations.
AdSupporting Fleet Electrification
This infrastructure expansion directly supports growing demand for electric heavy-duty trucks. Forum Mobility noted that its Santa Fe site in Rancho Dominguez already has commitments from fleet operators for more than 330 Tesla Semi trucks. The company confirmed that this charging facility will also be accessible to other commercial trucking customers.
In addition to the new sites, Forum Mobility is upgrading its existing infrastructure. The company has added two MCS Megachargers to its FM Harbor depot in the Port of Long Beach, which has been operational since December 2024. This move signals a commitment to scaling up high-speed charging capacity in one of the nation's busiest port complexes.
Strategic Context for Tesla
The partnership aligns with Tesla's broader strategy to accelerate the adoption of its Semi truck. Reliable, high-speed charging infrastructure is a primary prerequisite for commercial fleets to transition from diesel to electric. This expansion in the key California market comes as Tesla prepares to broaden the Semi's availability beyond North America, with a European launch reportedly planned for next year.
