Telix Pharmaceuticals Stock Surges on FDA Approval for Glioma Imaging Drug

Shares of Telix Pharmaceuticals (ASX:TLX) surged 10.3% to A$18.03 on Tuesday, driven by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) approval of the company's new cancer imaging drug, Pixclara.
FDA Greenlights Key Diagnostic Agent
The FDA on Monday approved Pixclara (floretyrosine F 18), an amino acid-based PET imaging drug. The agent is designed to help clinicians differentiate between recurrent or progressive glioma and changes in the brain resulting from treatment. According to the company, this approval makes Telix the sole holder of an FDA-approved radiopharmaceutical imaging agent for this specific indication.
The approval unlocks a significant commercial opportunity for Telix. Gliomas are a serious form of brain cancer, representing approximately 30% of all brain and central nervous system tumors and about 80% of all malignant brain tumors.
Strong Financials and Investor Outreach
AdThe positive market reaction was further supported by the company's strong financial performance and timely investor engagement. Telix leadership, including CEO Dr. Christian Behrenbruch, is currently presenting at the H.C. Wainwright Global Investment Conference in New York, providing a direct platform to discuss the approval with institutional investors.
The company's fundamental strength underpins investor confidence. Telix reported robust first-half 2026 results, including:
- Group revenue of US$477 million, a 22% increase year-over-year.
- Adjusted EBITDA surging by 146%.
- Raised full-year guidance, now expecting total revenue to exceed US$1 billion.
Telix's significant gains stood in stark contrast to the broader market, with the ASX 200 index declining by 0.9% during the same session.
