Background

Digital asset infrastructure provider Taurus has partnered with secure custody company MPCH to build and deploy an institutional-grade cryptocurrency custody infrastructure within the United States, Investing.com has learned exclusively.

A U.S.-Based Solution for Institutions

Under the agreement, Taurus will establish a dedicated deployment environment for its custody platform within MPCH's high-security facilities in the U.S. The core of Taurus's platform is built on Hardware Security Modules (HSM), and the company will retain full control over its HSM technology and cryptographic operations.

This collaboration provides Taurus with a U.S.-based physical deployment option to serve financial institutions that have specific requirements for onshore infrastructure. MPCH will provide the dedicated secure areas and its own custody infrastructure services to support the deployment.

Meeting Regulatory and Security Demands

The partnership is designed to support a range of institutional clients, including banks, custodians, exchanges, corporations, and government agencies. These clients often face strict compliance requirements related to data residency, operational resilience, and infrastructure sovereignty, necessitating that their digital asset operations are hosted within the U.S.

"Financial institutions require flexibility in deploying their digital asset infrastructure to meet their specific security, resilience, and regulatory compliance needs," said Milena Kohlhofer, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Taurus. Miles Parry, CEO of MPCH, added, "Institutions need trusted infrastructure that aligns with their security, operational, and regulatory requirements."

Advanced Features and Future Outlook

The planned deployment will incorporate several key features to ensure high levels of security and reliability:

  • Geographically separate disaster recovery solutions
  • Enterprise-grade physical security measures
  • A high-reliability network architecture

The partnership is also forward-looking, citing post-quantum cryptography (PQC) as a significant consideration. The HSMs used will be capable of supporting specific post-quantum signing algorithms, allowing clients to test new cryptographic standards without replacing their entire custody architecture. A specific timeline for the deployment and service launch has not yet been disclosed.
