TA 35 Index Closes Down 0.81% on Broad Sector Weakness

Israel's benchmark stock index, the TA 35, closed down 0.81% on Tuesday, as broad-based selling pressure pushed the market lower. The decline was primarily driven by weakness across the Real Estate, Communication, and Financials sectors, according to market data.
Sector-Led Decline
The negative sentiment was widespread on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, with decliners outnumbering advancers by a significant margin. Market data showed 300 stocks fell compared to 165 that rose, while 94 issues ended the session unchanged. This market breadth indicates that the downturn was not limited to a few large-cap stocks but was felt across the broader market.
Individual Movers
Despite the overall market decline, a few companies posted gains. The top performers on the TA 35 index included:
- Shapir Engineering Industry (TASE:SPEN), which rose 1.62%.
- Shufersal (TASE:SAE), which added 1.46%.
- Camtek Ltd (TASE:CAMT), finishing up 0.54%.
AdOn the downside, the session's worst performers were led by Navitas Petroleum LP Unit (TASE:NVPTp), which fell 2.74%. Other notable decliners included Palo Alto Networks Inc (TASE:CYBR), down 2.65%, and Big Shopping Centers Ltd (TASE:BIG), which lost 2.61%.
Broader Market Context
In the commodities market, energy prices moved higher while precious metals declined. Crude oil futures for October delivery were up 1.36% to $92.72 a barrel, and the November Brent oil contract rose 0.74%. In contrast, December Gold Futures fell 0.87%.
In foreign exchange markets, the USD/ILS and EUR/ILS pairs showed minimal movement. The US Dollar Index Futures, which measures the greenback against a basket of major currencies, was down 0.34%.
