T-Mobile, First Solar, Occidental Petroleum Headline Week of Key Analyst Upgrades

Several major Wall Street firms issued significant stock upgrades this past week, reassessing opportunities in companies ranging from telecommunications giant T-Mobile to luxury homebuilder Toll Brothers. The calls highlight themes of attractive valuations following recent stock declines and strong underlying business fundamentals.
Telecom and Clean Energy Upgrades
BofA Securities upgraded T-Mobile (TMUS) to Buy from Neutral, maintaining a $220 price target. The firm stated that market fears over competition from low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite broadband are overstated. BofA noted that T-Mobile's dominant 50% market share is concentrated in dense urban areas, where LEO signals face significant limitations, insulating the carrier from the primary threat.
Following a recent stock decline, Deutsche Bank upgraded First Solar (FSLR) to Buy with a $272 price target. The bank cited the stock's 27% drop since June 1st as a mispriced entry opportunity. According to the report, First Solar has a strong balance sheet with a $2.1 billion net cash position and trades at an attractive valuation of just 7x estimated 2027 EV/EBITDA, a significant discount to the clean tech sector average of 15x.
Energy and Retail Re-evaluations
AdIn the energy sector, Evercore upgraded Occidental Petroleum (OXY) to Outperform, setting a $65 price target. The firm's thesis centers on a structural improvement in the company's capital efficiency and a de-levered balance sheet, which is expected to reshape its free-cash-flow profile. Evercore suggested this improved financial structure could support a restart of the company's buyback program by late 2028.
Discount retailer Five Below (FIVE) was upgraded to Outperform by Mizuho with a $220 price target. The bank views the stock's recent 30% price dislocation as an overreaction. Mizuho's report pointed to strong underlying unit economics, with average store volumes trending toward $3 million, as a key driver for potential margin expansion.
Housing Market Focus
Ahead of the upcoming earnings season for homebuilders, Citi upgraded Toll Brothers (TOL) to Buy, assigning it a $176 price target. The firm is betting on the resilience of the luxury housing market, suggesting a potential bifurcation where high-end builders outperform. Citi highlighted Toll Brothers' position as a pure-play luxury builder and its valuation of 1.3x next-twelve-months price-to-tangible-book-value (P/TBV) as attractive.
