Background

Streamex Corp. (NASDAQ: STEX) has made its tokenized, yield-bearing gold security available through traditional brokerage accounts, a move aimed at bridging the gap between digital assets and mainstream investment channels. The new distribution method, announced on June 29, allows accredited investors to gain exposure to digital gold without needing to directly manage crypto wallets or interact with blockchain technology.

A Partnership Across Finance

The offering is a collaboration between three firms. Streamex issues the gold-backed security, $GLDY, while the regulated digital-securities platform tZERO provides custody. Distribution to investors is handled by Siebert Financial, a FINRA-member broker that, according to the announcement, oversees approximately $20 billion in client assets.

This structure enables Siebert's brokers to offer the tokenized gold security to eligible clients alongside conventional assets like stocks and bonds. The initiative targets the $13 trillion global gold market by offering a product with features common to digital assets, such as the potential for 24/7 trading and self-custody, within a traditional brokerage framework.

Product Features and Strategy

The $GLDY security is designed to offer holders a yield of up to approximately 3.5% per year, paid monthly in additional gold. Streamex states this yield is generated by lending the underlying physical gold to commercial users like jewelers and refiners. This allows an investor's gold holdings to compound over time.

“Our goal has always been to make gold something everyone can own, easily, in whatever form suits them," said Henry McPhie, Co-Founder & CEO of Streamex, in the announcement. "Putting $GLDY into a brokerage account is a major step toward that, because it meets traditional investors exactly where they already are.”

Phased Rollout and Future Plans

This development is the latest in a series of steps by Streamex to broaden access to its digital commodity products. The company launched $GLDY in February and enabled 24/7 secondary trading for the security on the Solana-based decentralized exchange Orca in May.

Currently, $GLDY is a regulated security available only to verified accredited investors under Rule 506(c) of Regulation D. However, Streamex has stated its intention to launch a retail-focused version in the future. According to the company, this planned retail product would be accessible to a wider audience and could trade on multiple decentralized exchanges.
