This broad market strength was accompanied by a decrease in investor anxiety, as the S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures implied volatility, fell 4.31% to 13.78.

The Materials sector was a key driver of the gains, with several mining companies among the top performers. Standout stocks on the S&P/TSX Composite included:
- Americas Silver Corp (TSX:USA), which surged 10.61%.
- Discovery Mining Ltd (TSX:DSV), adding 9.95%.
- Silvercorp Metals Inc (TSX:SVM), which climbed 9.03%.
AdOn the downside, some notable decliners included Restaurant Brands Intl (TSX:QSR), which fell 2.28%, and Rogers Communications Inc (TSX:RCIb), which dropped 2.21%.
Commodity and Currency Update
The equity market's rise occurred even as key commodity prices edged lower. Gold Futures for December delivery dipped 0.13% to $4,381.97 a troy ounce. In energy markets, Crude oil for October delivery fell 1.18% to $101.22 a barrel, while the November Brent contract declined 1.59%.
In foreign exchange, the Canadian dollar was relatively stable, with the CAD/USD pair showing minimal change. The US Dollar Index Futures were down slightly by 0.03%.
