S&P/TSX Composite Closes Down 0.82% on Broad Sector Weakness

Canada's benchmark stock index, the S&P/TSX Composite, closed down 0.82% on Thursday, as broad-based selling pressure weighed on the market. The decline was primarily driven by weakness in the Information Technology, Consumer Discretionary, and Real Estate sectors, according to closing data from the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Market Breadth and Volatility
Investor sentiment leaned negative, with falling stocks outnumbering advancing ones by a margin of 623 to 339, while 91 issues ended unchanged.
A key indicator of market anxiety, the S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures implied volatility, surged 11.02% to 15.41. A rise in the VIX typically signals increased uncertainty among investors.

- WSP Global Inc. (TSX:WSP), declining 8.30% to a three-year low.
