Ad- Top Performers: Technology firm Megaport Ltd (ASX:MP1) was the session's biggest gainer, surging 11.58%. It was followed by Zip Co Ltd (ASX:ZIP), which added 7.84%, and Capstone Copper Corp (ASX:CSC), which rose 7.36%.
- Notable Decliners: On the downside, Champion Iron Ltd (ASX:CIA) fell 5.25% to a 5-year low. Other significant losers included Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:WTC), down 5.12%, and Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX:DMP), which dropped 5.03%.
Broader Market Context
In commodity markets, energy prices retreated. Crude oil for September delivery fell 1.88% to $82.02 a barrel, while the October Brent contract slipped 1.58% to $85.51 a barrel. Gold futures for August delivery also moved lower, declining by 0.48%.
In currency trading, the Australian dollar was little changed against its U.S. counterpart, with the AUD/USD pair holding near 0.70. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index Futures, which measures the greenback against a basket of major currencies, advanced 0.24%.
