Spain's IBEX 35 Closes Marginally Lower Amid Sector Divergence

Spanish equities finished Monday's session slightly in the red, with the benchmark IBEX 35 index declining by 0.14%. The modest drop was driven by weakness in the technology and consumer-related sectors, which offset gains in construction and renewable energy stocks.
Sector Performance and Key Movers
The market's downturn was primarily led by losses in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Services, and Consumer Goods sectors. According to closing data from the Madrid Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 122 to 68, with 18 issues ending the day unchanged.
Among the session's biggest laggards were:
- Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (BME:COL), which fell 2.45%.
- Indra A (BME:IDR), declining 2.36%.
- Amadeus IT (BME:AMA), which was down 2.33%.
AdDespite the index's negative close, several companies posted strong results. Infrastructure and renewable energy group Acciona (BME:ANA) was the top performer, rising 2.95%. Other notable gainers included construction firm ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (BME:ACS), up 1.76%, and solar power developer SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS), which added 1.75%.
