Background

SpaceXAI announced on Wednesday the launch of Grok 4.5, a new artificial intelligence model the company is calling its most intelligent offering to date. The model is specifically designed for complex coding and agentic tasks, which involve AI systems taking actions to achieve goals.

The new model is immediately available to developers through an API key via the SpaceXAI console and is integrated into the AI coding agent Cursor through a tool called Grok Build. The company noted that availability in the European Union is expected in mid-July.

According to SpaceXAI, Grok 4.5 was trained on tens of thousands of Nvidia GB300 graphics processing units, with a focus on high-quality data. The release follows SpaceX's recent acquisition of Anysphere, the startup behind Cursor, in a move to bolster its presence in the enterprise AI market.

SpaceXAI has priced Grok 4.5 at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. In a post on X, CEO Elon Musk described the model as "Opus-class, but faster, more token-efficient and lower cost." This pricing is competitive with rival models, such as Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.8 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna, which is scheduled for public launch on Thursday.
