Saudi Arabia's Tadawul All Share Index Drops 1.30% on Broad Sector Weakness

Saudi Arabia's benchmark stock index, the Tadawul All Share (TASI), ended Sunday's trading session down 1.30%, as broad-based selling pressure weighed on the market. The decline was accompanied by a slump in global oil prices, a key driver for the kingdom's economy.
Widespread Declines Across Key Sectors
The negative sentiment was evident across the market, with declining stocks significantly outnumbering advancers by a margin of 268 to 67, while 15 stocks closed unchanged. According to market data, the downturn was led by weakness in the Energy & Utilities, Cement, and Media & Publishing sectors.
This broad sell-off indicates a risk-off mood among investors, extending beyond a single industry and reflecting wider market concerns.
Notable Market Movers
Several individual companies experienced significant price movements during the session. The day's worst-performing stocks on the TASI included:
Ad- Saudi Aramco Base Oil Company JSC (TADAWUL:2223), which plunged 9.97% to close at 127.30.
- Knowledge Economic City (TADAWUL:4310), which fell 5.08% to 18.88.
- Allied Cooperative Insurance Group SJSC (TADAWUL:8150), which declined 4.96% to 7.85.
In contrast, a few stocks bucked the downward trend. Arriyadh Development Co. (TADAWUL:4150) was a top performer, rising 5.68% to end the day at 16.75.
Commodity and Currency Context
The stock market's decline coincided with notable weakness in the energy markets. Crude oil for October delivery fell 2.43% to $99.99 a barrel, while Brent oil for November delivery dropped 2.94% to $104.47 a barrel. The fall in oil prices often has a direct impact on investor sentiment in the Saudi market.
In currency markets, the USD/SAR pair remained stable at 3.76, while the EUR/SAR edged down 0.11% to 4.35. The US Dollar Index Futures saw a minor gain of 0.04%.
