Samsung Electronics is launching its first-ever US credit card, the Samsung Galaxy Card, in a new partnership with Barclays US Consumer Bank. The card, which will run on the Visa network, aims to deepen customer loyalty with rewards focused on the Samsung ecosystem.
Samsung Electronics Co. is entering the U.S. credit card market for the first time, partnering with Barclays Plc to launch the Samsung Galaxy Card. The move signals the tech giant's latest push into financial services and an effort by London-based Barclays to expand its consumer business in the United States.
Card Details and Rewards
Issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank on the Visa network, the new card will become available for applications on July 22, 2026. It is designed to integrate with the Samsung Wallet and offers a tiered cashback rewards structure aimed at incentivizing purchases within the company's ecosystem.
Key features announced by Samsung include:
- 5% cash rewards on eligible purchases made directly with Samsung.
- 3% cash rewards on purchases made using Samsung Wallet.
- 2% cash rewards on select streaming services, including Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify.
- 1% cash rewards on all other purchases.
AdEligible new cardholders can also earn a $200 bonus in cash rewards after spending $2,000 within the first 90 days of opening an account. The card will be available in both a virtual format and as a physical premium metal card.
Strategic Rationale
The partnership aligns with Barclays' strategy to diversify its co-branded card portfolio beyond its traditional focus on airlines and cruise lines. "Partnering with Samsung is a strong example of Barclays partner-first strategy," said Denny Nealon, CEO of Barclays US Consumer Bank, in a statement. Nealon added that the collaboration aims to create "seamless, rewarding digital banking capabilities and products."
For Samsung, the card represents a significant step to bolster its digital ecosystem in the competitive U.S. market. By offering enhanced rewards for using Samsung devices and its proprietary digital wallet, the company aims to increase customer engagement and loyalty, a strategy employed by other major technology firms with financial product offerings.
