Renault Pledges €600 Million for Spanish Plants to Boost EV Production

Summary
The French automaker will invest €600 million through 2030 in its Valladolid and Palencia facilities to produce five new models, including EVs, and add a battery assembly line.
Renault Group has announced a significant long-term investment of €600 million ($683 million) into its Spanish manufacturing facilities through 2030. The plan is designed to support the production of new vehicles, including electric models, and secure thousands of jobs in the region.
Strategic Focus on Spanish Operations
The French automaker confirmed the funding will be directed to its plants in Valladolid and Palencia. A key component of the investment is the establishment of a new battery assembly line at the Valladolid facility, signaling a deeper push into the electric vehicle supply chain.
The investment will facilitate the production of five new car models. According to the company's statement on Thursday, these will include two medium-sized electric vehicles built on Renault's new RGEV Medium 2.0 EV native platform.
Rationale and Labor Agreement
AdRenault attributed the decision to the proven competitiveness of its Spanish plants. The announcement also follows the successful negotiation of a new collective bargaining agreement covering the years 2026-2028, providing a stable labor framework for the long-term project.
The company stated that the investment plan aims to secure more than 6,000 direct jobs at the two facilities. Funding will be sourced from a combination of Renault's own resources and public support from national and regional bodies focused on industrial transformation and sustainable mobility.
This move reinforces Spain's strategic importance within Renault's global manufacturing footprint. The automaker described the investment as a demonstration of its long-term commitment to its operations in the country.
