Polymarket Hires Former Amazon CFO Warren Jenson Amidst Rivalry with Kalshi

Prediction market platform Polymarket announced Thursday it has appointed veteran finance executive Warren Jenson as its new Chief Financial Officer. The high-profile hire signals a strategic push by the company to bolster its leadership as it faces intensifying competition from rival Kalshi.
A Veteran Finance Leader Joins
Jenson, 69, brings over three decades of financial leadership experience from some of the largest public companies in the United States. According to the announcement, his previous roles include serving as CFO for:
- Amazon
- Electronic Arts
- Delta Air Lines
- Nielsen
Jenson also currently serves on the boards of Dropbox and crypto firm Ripple. At Polymarket, he will report to CEO Shayne Coplan and will be tasked with strengthening the company's long-term planning and scalability. "His experience will be critical to everything we build from here," Coplan said in a statement.
Battle for Market Dominance
AdThe appointment comes as Polymarket works to reverse a recent decline in market share within the rapidly growing prediction market sector. These platforms, which allow users to trade on the outcomes of real-world events, have seen a surge in popularity.
According to data from Piper Sandler cited by Reuters, combined trading volumes at Polymarket and Kalshi reached $48.4 billion in August. However, Kalshi's volume of $40 billion was nearly five times that of Polymarket, which was previously the market leader.
Strategic Reorganization
Jenson's hiring is the latest in a series of strategic moves by Polymarket. Earlier this year, the company brought on former Uber executive Travis VanderZanden as its Chief Growth Officer. The firm, which recently surpassed $1 billion in annualized revenue, has also partnered with NBA star LeBron James to promote its platform.
