Polymarket Appoints Veteran Executive Warren Jenson as First CFO Amid Rivalry with Kalshi

Prediction market platform Polymarket has appointed its first-ever chief financial officer, bringing in veteran executive Warren Jenson to oversee the company's finances. The strategic hire comes as Polymarket seeks to raise new capital and regain market share from its chief rival, Kalshi.
Strategic Hire Amid Fundraising Push
Jenson joined Polymarket this week, bringing decades of senior financial experience from roles at media research firm Nielsen and marketing company LiveRamp, according to a company statement reported by Bloomberg. His appointment adds significant corporate finance expertise to a leadership team headed by 28-year-old founder and CEO Shayne Coplan.
The move coincides with a major fundraising effort by the company. Polymarket is reportedly in the process of raising $1 billion in a new round led by venture firm 1789 Capital, which would give the company a valuation of $21 billion. According to Bloomberg, the company has also been navigating internal challenges and a federal investigation by its primary regulator, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
AdCompetitive Landscape and Growth
Once the leader in the prediction markets space, Polymarket has recently seen its valuation and trading volume surpassed by competitor Kalshi. Jenson's appointment is part of a broader effort to professionalize its leadership and regain momentum. The company also recently hired Travis VanderZanden, who formerly managed international growth at Uber Technologies Inc., to its senior team.
While Polymarket has previously had finance chiefs for specific business units, Jenson will be the first executive to manage the firm's overall financial strategy. "Warren has led finance at some of the most consequential companies in the world, and his experience will be critical to everything we build from here," CEO Shayne Coplan said in the statement.
