Pandora Shares Fall as CEO's U.S. Demand Warning Eclipses Raised Forecast

Summary
Pandora stock dropped after CEO Berta de Pablos-Barbier warned that U.S. consumer demand has stabilized at a depressed level, a comment that overshadowed the company's upgraded revenue guidance.
Shares in Pandora A/S (PNDORA) fell sharply in Tuesday trading after the company’s chief executive signaled persistent weakness in its largest market, the United States. The negative investor sentiment overshadowed an otherwise positive announcement of an upgraded revenue forecast and the opening of a major new manufacturing facility.
CEO Comments Spook Investors
Speaking at the opening of a new $150 million manufacturing facility in Vietnam, CEO Berta de Pablos-Barbier said that U.S. consumer demand has stabilized at a “depressed level” following a significant pullback in May. She attributed the softness to macroeconomic pressures on lower- and middle-income consumers, including:
- Persistent inflation
- Elevated fuel prices
- Broader economic uncertainty
While the CEO noted that conditions had not deteriorated further, the lack of a recovery signal appeared to unnerve the market. The cautious commentary on the U.S. outlook took precedence over the company simultaneously raising its full-year 2026 organic revenue growth forecast to 3%, an increase from its prior range of -1% to +2%. The upgraded guidance was attributed to strong momentum in Asian markets, particularly Japan.
Market Reaction
AdPandora's stock fell 4.2% to trade at DKK 796, with investors focusing on the implied ceiling on U.S. demand rather than the improved full-year outlook. The share price hit an intraday low of DKK 789.4, a steep drop from its opening price of DKK 827.6.
The decline was compounded by a weak local market backdrop, with the benchmark OMX Copenhagen 20 index also trading lower. A mixed session for U.S. equity futures offered little support for European consumer discretionary stocks.
Leadership Transition
A secondary factor adding to market uncertainty is a planned transition in the company's financial leadership. The sell-off coincided with the official first day for incoming CFO Paulo Garcia. He is set to formally assume the role in December upon the retirement of veteran CFO Anders Boyer.
