Orbs Promotes Ran Hammer to CEO in Leadership Reshuffle

Orbs, a decentralized infrastructure project focused on decentralized finance (DeFi), has named longtime executive Ran Hammer as its new chief executive officer, the company announced on Thursday. The move is part of a leadership transition that sees former CEO Nadav Shemesh assume the role of executive chairman.
Leadership Transition
Hammer, who has been with Orbs since its inception in 2017, previously served as the company's chief business officer. In that capacity, he was responsible for leading integration efforts and building out the partner network for the protocol's suite of products.
As executive chairman, Shemesh will remain actively involved with the company, focusing on long-term strategy and supporting the new leadership team. The company stated the transition is designed to maintain strategic continuity while positioning Orbs for its next phase of growth.
Strategic Focus on DeFi
In his new role as CEO, Hammer is expected to build on the company's existing foundation to broaden its presence across the on-chain finance ecosystem. His appointment signals a continued focus on expanding the protocol's utility for various market participants.
Ad"My focus as CEO will be on building on that foundation, working closely with our team and partners to expand the role Orbs can play in advancing the adoption of on-chain finance across retail, institutional, professional, and agenic flows," Hammer said in the announcement.
Orbs' Role in the Market
Orbs operates as a Layer-3 blockchain, providing an additional execution layer that works on top of existing smart contract platforms. This infrastructure is designed to enable more complex trading functionalities not natively supported by Layer-1 or Layer-2 networks.
According to the company, its protocols are used to support advanced trading tools, including complex order types, liquidity aggregation, and decentralized derivatives. Hammer's promotion places a veteran of the project at the helm as it aims to deepen its integration within the rapidly evolving DeFi sector.
