Nvidia to Invest $3 Billion in Meta Equity Offering to Deepen AI Partnership

Nvidia announced Tuesday it will invest $3 billion in a new equity offering by Meta Platforms, a move that deepens the strategic partnership between the two technology giants as they collaborate on advancing Meta's "Muse" line of artificial intelligence models. The investment is part of a larger capital raise by the social media company to fund its expanding AI infrastructure.
Strategic AI Collaboration
In a joint statement, Nvidia and Meta outlined an expanded partnership aimed at optimizing the computing infrastructure for Meta's AI agents. The collaboration will focus on improving both the inference and training performance of the Muse AI models, which have been positively received by users since their recent launch.
As part of the agreement, Meta plans to significantly increase the deployment of Nvidia hardware within its data centers. This includes utilizing Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin and Vera CPUs to power its AI systems, along with the chipmaker's networking technology.
"NVIDIA and Meta are expanding our partnership to optimize the computing infrastructure end to end for capable, efficient and secure AI agents," said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in the statement. This alliance solidifies a key customer for Nvidia's next-generation hardware while providing Meta with critical technology for its AI ambitions.
Meta's Upsized Capital Raise
AdNvidia's investment is a cornerstone of Meta's enlarged capital raise, which is primarily intended to finance the buildout of its AI capabilities. The Instagram parent company announced it has upsized its common stock offering to $25 billion, an increase from the previously planned $22.5 billion.
Key details of the offering include:
- Common Stock Price: $625 per share
- Depository Share Price: $50 per share
- Total Potential Raise: Up to $37.5 billion when combining both offerings.
Looking further ahead, Meta also disclosed on Monday its intention to conduct a separate $60 billion non-voting share offering in 2027. This signals a long-term, capital-intensive strategy to compete in the AI sector, underscoring the immense costs associated with developing proprietary large-scale AI infrastructure.
