NVIDIA Stock at Critical Juncture, Testing 200-Day Average Support

NVIDIA's stock (NASDAQ: NVDA) is at a pivotal technical crossroads, testing its long-term 200-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) as a key support level. While the stock has been in a downtrend since rejecting its all-time high, conflicting technical signals are creating significant indecision among traders.
A Standoff at Technical Support
According to an analysis by Investing.com, NVIDIA's price is contending with its 200-day SMA, which stands at $215.23. This moving average is a widely watched indicator often seen as the dividing line between a long-term bull and bear market.
A Doji candlestick pattern formed on October 26, indicating a balance between buying and selling pressure and highlighting uncertainty at this crucial support. The stock is currently caught between the 200-day SMA support and resistance from its shorter-term 20-day SMA at $217.17, creating a narrow and volatile trading range.
Conflicting Bullish and Bearish Signals
The current price action presents a classic technical battle, with arguments for both a potential rebound and further declines.
Key bearish indicators suggest the downtrend remains active:
Ad- The stock is trading below its 20-day, 50-day, and Ichimoku cloud indicators, signaling negative short-term and macro momentum.
- A descending channel pattern is in effect, with significant resistance identified in the $220.00-$222.00 zone.
However, some bullish signs are emerging that suggest the downward momentum may be fading:
- A bullish RSI divergence has been noted, where the Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicator made a higher low while the stock's price made a lower low. This can often precede a price reversal.
- The MACD histogram, another momentum indicator, shows that bearish momentum is decelerating.
Key Levels to Watch
Traders are closely monitoring several critical price levels that could determine the stock's next major move. A sustained close below the $210.00 support level, which also aligns with a 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level, could trigger a deeper correction toward prior support zones at $198.00 and $190.00.
Conversely, for a bullish case to gain traction, the stock would need to break and hold above the resistance cluster around $222.00. Such a move could invalidate the immediate bearish pressure and open a path toward the 50-day SMA near $225.37.
