Nvidia Discloses 9.3% Stake in AI Cloud Firm Nebius

Nvidia has disclosed a 9.3% stake in the AI-focused cloud infrastructure firm Nebius, formalizing a major investment in a key partner and customer. The position was detailed in a regulatory filing on Monday, confirming the chipmaker's growing influence across the artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Details of the Stake
According to the filing, Nvidia's holding in Nebius comprises approximately 22.26 million shares. This figure includes shares obtainable through a warrant that was part of a $2 billion investment Nvidia announced earlier this year.
The filing specified that Nvidia is currently prohibited from exercising the warrant before September 11. Following the disclosure, shares of Nebius rose 3% in aftermarket trading.
AdStrategic Rationale
This investment is part of Nvidia's broader strategy to support and invest in the data center infrastructure required for widespread AI adoption. By taking a stake in Nebius, Nvidia strengthens its relationship with a significant customer and a key player in the specialized AI cloud market.
Nebius is among a new class of fast-growing data center companies known as "neocloud" firms, which, like Coreweave, focus specifically on providing the high-performance computing capacity needed to power AI applications. Based in Amsterdam, Nebius was spun off from the search engine company Yandex and has a stated goal of building more than 5 gigawatts of computing capacity by the end of 2030.
