Nokia Shares Surge 6% to Lead Finnish Stocks Higher

Finland's benchmark stock index, the OMX Helsinki 25, advanced 0.63% to close higher on Monday, buoyed by a rally in the telecommunications, oil and gas, and consumer services sectors, according to market data.
Key Movers and Sector Performance
The session's gains were led by a significant surge in shares of telecommunications giant Nokia (HE:NOKIA), which climbed 6.05% to end the day at a price of 9.18. The strong performance in the energy sector was reflected in the share prices of industrial machinery company Metso (HE:METSO) and oil refiner Neste (HE:NESTE).
- Metso Oyj added 2.31% to close at 18.15.
- Neste Oyj gained 2.19%, finishing the session at 32.66.
On the downside, the day's worst-performing stocks on the index included Lumo Kodit Oyj (HE:LUMO), which fell 1.93%, and Huhtamaki Oyj (HE:HUH1V), which declined 1.52%.
AdBroader Market Picture
Despite the positive close for the benchmark index, the broader market sentiment on the Helsinki Stock Exchange was mixed. According to the session data, declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones by a margin of 114 to 60, with 18 stocks ending the day unchanged. This indicates that the gains were concentrated in a smaller number of large-cap companies.
In the commodities market, energy prices provided a tailwind for related stocks. Brent oil futures for November delivery rose 1.39% to $97.62 a barrel, while WTI crude oil for October delivery gained 1.68% to $93.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index Futures traded 0.28% lower at 98.87.
