Middle East Flight Disruptions Persist Despite Some Service Resumptions

Several international airlines are beginning to restore select routes to the Middle East following recent regional conflict. However, widespread disruptions continue, with many carriers extending flight suspensions to key destinations for several more months.
Global airlines are cautiously navigating flight schedules to the Middle East after a period of conflict in the region led to widespread cancellations. While some carriers have begun to resume services on a limited basis, many others have extended their suspensions, indicating that a full return to normal operations remains distant.
Among the airlines restarting services, Air France resumed flights to Dubai on July 8 and to Tel Aviv on July 3. Similarly, SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, reinstated its Izmir-Dubai route on July 7. Low-cost carrier Eurowings also plans to resume flights to Tel Aviv on July 10, after restarting services to Erbil and Beirut earlier in the month.
Despite these resumptions, many major carriers have pushed back their return to key Middle Eastern hubs. U.S.-based Delta Air Lines has suspended its Atlanta-Tel Aviv service through December 18. In Europe, the Lufthansa Group has suspended flights to numerous destinations, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Beirut, until at least mid-September or late October for most routes. IAG-owned British Airways has also paused flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv, and Amman until its winter season begins on October 25.
AdOther international airlines reflect a similar pattern of extended disruption. Air Canada has cancelled its flights to Tel Aviv and Dubai until October 24. Further east, Cathay Pacific plans to resume its Dubai and Riyadh flights from September 1, while Singapore Airlines has extended its flight suspension to Dubai until early August. The varied timelines highlight the ongoing operational and security assessments airlines are conducting for the region.
