Meta Platforms announced on Tuesday the launch of "Meta One," a new tiered subscription service designed to provide users with enhanced AI capabilities and premium features across its family of apps, including Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

The service, which has already attracted 15 million subscriptions and trials during a phased introduction, aims to monetize the company's advanced AI tools and offer new functionalities for content creators and businesses.

Subscription Tiers and Pricing

According to the company's announcement, Meta One will offer more than 50 features focused on content creation, audience engagement, and business management. The monthly pricing structure is segmented into several tiers:

  • $2.99 for single-product plans, such as WhatsApp Plus or Instagram Plus, which provide app-specific enhancements.
  • $7.99 for individual bundles that combine these features with more advanced AI capabilities.
  • $14.99 for creator and business bundles, which include professional tools like account verification, advanced analytics, and enhanced support.

Meta confirmed that the core functions of its apps and basic usage of Meta AI will remain free for all users.

Strategic Push Beyond Advertising

The introduction of Meta One marks a significant strategic effort by the social media giant to diversify its revenue streams and reduce its heavy reliance on digital advertising. The move seeks to generate a new, recurring income source from its vast global user base, which the company reported as 3.60 billion daily active people earlier this year.

This strategy allows Meta to directly monetize its ongoing investments in artificial intelligence and provide added value to power users, creators, and small businesses who rely on its platforms for their operations.

Future Plans

Meta stated its intention to continuously build upon the Meta One offering. "We’ll continue to add features and agent skills built to help small businesses and creators with end-to-end marketing, business operations, content creation, and optimization," the company said in a blog post.

The company also noted that the subscription service will expand to its AI glasses and other products in the future.
