Maire Shares Climb on €1.3 Billion Argentina Fertilizer Plant Contract

Summary
The Italian engineering group's stock rose after its Tecnimont subsidiary secured a major engineering, procurement, and construction contract for a large-scale urea complex in Argentina.
Shares in Maire (MTCM) rose 2.0% in trading after the company announced its Tecnimont unit secured a landmark contract valued at €1.3 billion (approximately $1.5 billion) for a large-scale fertilizer project in Argentina.
Landmark Contract Secured
The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract is for a new urea fertilizer complex. The project is expected to take over three years to complete and is slated to become the largest facility of its kind in Latin America based on production capacity.
According to analysis from broker Equita, the contract is highly significant for the company's order book. The firm noted the award represents roughly 14% of Maire’s estimated order intake guidance for the full year, providing a substantial boost to its backlog.
Analyst Bullishness and Strong Order Flow
The Argentina contract adds to a series of positive developments for the Italian engineering firm. Earlier this month, Kepler Cheuvreux upgraded Maire's stock to Buy from Hold, citing a strong dynamic in order acquisition and an approximate 25% upside potential.
AdMaire has already secured around €7 billion in new orders during the first half of 2026, bringing it close to its full-year target of approximately €9 billion. Analysts also point to a pipeline of potential future catalysts, including:
- Potential for mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
- A possible Initial Public Offering (IPO) for its NextChem subsidiary
- Upward revisions to earnings estimates tied to major projects
Market Context and Outlook
Maire's stock gain represents a clear outperformance against the local benchmark, as Italy's FTSE MIB index had pulled back in the prior session, weighed down by financial and semiconductor stocks. Investors are now looking ahead to the company's first-half 2026 results, which are scheduled for release on July 30, with general expectations for a solid report.
