Background

Liquid Mercury announced it has completed a critical disclosure requirement under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, enabling its native MERC token to be admitted for trading on regulated platforms across the EU.

MiCA White Paper Registered

The company confirmed on July 1, 2026, that its crypto-asset white paper for the MERC token was submitted to the Central Bank of Ireland and subsequently added to the European Securities and Markets Authority’s (ESMA) official MiCA register. This registration fulfills a core tenet of the MiCA framework, which mandates the publication of a detailed white paper before a crypto-asset can be offered to the public or listed for trading within the EU.

With the white paper now on the ESMA register, MERC meets the necessary disclosure standards for admission to trading venues throughout the European Union and the wider European Economic Area (EEA). This provides a compliant pathway for exchanges to list the token.

Strategic Implications for EU Expansion

Company leadership framed the move as a foundational step for growth in the European market. “Our MiCA disclosure makes that commitment official,” said Tony Saliba, CEO and founder of Liquid Mercury. “With the white paper in the ESMA register, MERC has the regulatory grounding we need to keep pursuing listings, deeper liquidity, and broader access across the EU and beyond.”

Liquid Mercury provides institutional-grade trading infrastructure and is expanding into tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), where its MERC token functions as a platform utility. Securing regulatory clarity under MiCA is crucial for the token's role as the company's RWA business and other platforms grow.
