Background

Liquid Mercury announced it has completed a key regulatory step for its MERC token in the European Union, submitting its crypto-asset white paper to the Central Bank of Ireland. The document has been officially added to the European Securities and Markets Authority’s (ESMA) public register, clearing the path for the token's admission to trading on regulated venues across the EU.

MiCA Compliance Unlocks EU Market Access

The submission fulfills a core requirement of the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation, a comprehensive legal framework governing digital assets. Under MiCA, issuers must publish a detailed white paper and have it registered before a crypto-asset can be offered to the public or listed for trading within the EU and European Economic Area (EEA).

By successfully registering its white paper, Liquid Mercury has met the necessary disclosure standards. This move provides the regulatory foundation for exchanges within the 27-nation bloc to list the MERC token for trading.

Company leadership framed the move as a commitment to transparency and a strategic effort to expand the token's reach. The registration is expected to support the company's goals of securing more listings, deepening liquidity, and broadening investor access in Europe.

"With the white paper in the ESMA register, MERC has the regulatory grounding we need to keep pursuing listings, deeper liquidity, and broader access across the EU and beyond,” said Tony Saliba, CEO and founder of Liquid Mercury, in a statement on July 1, 2026. The MERC token functions as a platform token for Liquid Mercury's services, which include infrastructure for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs).

About Liquid Mercury

Its platforms cater to over-the-counter (OTC) trading and the growing market for tokenized RWAs, such as sports investments. The company stated that the role of the MERC token is set to grow alongside its RWA business.
