Lenovo Group Ltd. (HK:0992) shares rallied on Friday after Morgan Stanley upgraded the stock, citing strong demand for the company's server products driven by the artificial intelligence sector.

Analyst Upgrade Drives Rally

Shares of the technology giant rose 4.7% to close at HK$25.18 in Hong Kong trading. The move followed an analyst note from Morgan Stanley, which upgraded its rating on Lenovo to Overweight from Neutral.

The investment bank also more than doubled its price target for the stock, raising it to HK$30 from a previous HK$14.20. Morgan Stanley's analysts believe robust demand for Lenovo's server offerings will more than compensate for headwinds from rising memory prices.

Previously, Lenovo had warned investors that surging demand from the AI industry was increasing memory costs, which could impact product prices. However, Morgan Stanley's report suggests the company is well-positioned to benefit from that same trend through its server and IT infrastructure services.

The bank noted that Lenovo will likely be able to pass on any higher component costs to its customers, protecting its margins. This indicates confidence in the company's pricing power within the current high-demand environment for AI-related hardware.

Broader Market Context

Lenovo's gains were supported by a positive session for the broader Hong Kong market. The Hang Seng index climbed 1.4% on the day, lifted by a wider rally across local technology shares.
