Laopu Gold Shares Plunge 23.8% After Profit Warning

Summary
Shares of Laopu Gold plummeted after the company issued a profit warning for the first half of 2026, with its updated revenue and earnings guidance falling short of analyst expectations.
Shares of Laopu Gold fell 23.8% on Tuesday after the company issued a profit alert on Sunday, warning that its financial results for the first half of 2026 would miss previous projections.
Revised Guidance Details
In its announcement, Laopu Gold provided updated guidance that fell below analyst estimates from Goldman Sachs. The company detailed the following expectations for the first six months of 2026:
- Revenue: Expected to be between Rmb19.8 billion and Rmb20.5 billion, below the Goldman Sachs estimate of Rmb21.0 billion.
- Adjusted Net Profit: Projected to range from Rmb4.3 billion to Rmb4.4 billion, compared to the Goldman Sachs forecast of Rmb4.8 billion.
AdSecond-Quarter Slowdown
The company's new guidance implies a significant slowdown in its second-quarter performance. Based on previously reported first-quarter results, the updated forecast suggests a Q2 2026 net profit of between Rmb0.56 billion and Rmb0.61 billion.
This implied figure represents a substantial miss, coming in 40% to 45% below the Goldman Sachs estimate of Rmb1.0 billion for the quarter. The sharp decline in the company's stock price reflects investor reaction to the weaker-than-expected outlook.
