Kia to Invest $649 Million to Build EV3 Electric Vehicle in Mexico

South Korean automaker Kia will invest $649 million to begin producing fully electric vehicles at its plant in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, a move that expands the company's EV manufacturing footprint in North America. The plan was confirmed by company and government officials during a press conference on Wednesday.

The investment will be used to adapt the existing production line at the Nuevo Leon facility for EV manufacturing, according to Horacio Chavez, Kia's managing director for Mexico. "It’s an investment made to adjust the production line, so the same plant continues to be used," Chavez stated.
