Kazakhstan Oil Output Jumps 40% as Tengiz Field Production Recovers

Summary
Kazakhstan's daily crude production surged to 2.08 million barrels per day over the weekend, a 40% increase driven by the restoration of output at the giant Tengiz oilfield following earlier export disruptions.
Kazakhstan's daily oil and gas condensate production surged by 40% over the weekend, a significant recovery driven by the restoration of output at the crucial Tengiz oilfield. Total production reached approximately 2.08 million barrels per day (bpd) on Saturday, a sharp increase from the 1.49 million bpd recorded on July 31, according to a source familiar with the data.
Tengiz Field Drives Rebound
The country's total output climbed to 275,000 metric tons on Saturday from 197,000 tons at the end of July, the source said. The primary catalyst for this rebound was the Chevron-led Tengiz field, where production nearly doubled to 903,000 bpd from 454,000 bpd over the same period.
This latest figure for Tengiz also surpasses the field's average daily output of 784,000 barrels in July. Neither Tengizchevroil, the field's operator, nor Kazakhstan’s energy ministry provided comment on the production figures.
Context: Recovery From Pipeline Curbs
AdThe increase in production signals a recovery from operational headwinds faced in July, when crude output declined due to export restrictions on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), the country's primary export artery.
The CPC pipeline is critical to Kazakhstan's energy sector, handling more than 80% of the nation's oil exports. It serves as the main route to market for major fields including Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak. The weekend's higher output suggests a normalization of flows following those disruptions.
For market context, the restored production level brings Kazakhstan closer to its recent peak. In April, the country's oil and gas condensate output reached a record 2.17 million bpd.
