Kalshi Seeks Regulatory Approval for Single-Stock Perpetual Futures on Tesla, Apple

Kalshi Inc. intends to seek regulatory approval to introduce single-stock perpetual futures in the United States, targeting some of the market's most prominent technology companies. The move represents a significant step to bring a popular type of overseas derivative product into the regulated U.S. financial system.
The Proposal
According to a Bloomberg report citing an interview with co-founder and CEO Tarek Mansour, the New York-based company plans to submit its application to both the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as soon as next week. Kalshi is seeking joint regulation for the products as security futures.
The initial contracts would be based on the shares of major tech firms, including:
- Tesla Inc. (TSLA)
- Apple Inc. (AAPL)
- Nvidia Corp. (NVDA)

If approved, these would be the first single-stock perpetual futures offered in the United States. Perpetual futures, which do not have an expiration date, are widely traded in international crypto markets but have not been available for single stocks within the U.S. regulatory framework. The filing is seen as an attempt by a newer trading platform to compete with established financial market infrastructure.
"It’s about time that these products come to the US, under a regulated umbrella with the right set of guardrails and customer protection," Mansour said in the interview with Bloomberg. Beyond equities, Kalshi is also reportedly looking to expand its commodity contracts to include agricultural products.
