Background

JPMorgan Chase has appointed veteran banker Michael Flynn to lead a newly established small-cap investment banking business, according to an internal memo. The new division expands the bank's existing mid-cap franchise to provide services to a broader range of clients.

The small-cap unit will focus on companies in commercial and specialized industries with enterprise values of approximately $100 million to $500 million. The move is reportedly part of a broader strategy by major banks to invest in new teams and expand client coverage in anticipation of a strong year for dealmaking.

Flynn brings over 25 years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, and private equity to the role. He joins JPMorgan from G2 Capital Advisors, where he served as a managing director, and will be based in New York.
