Bright Spots in Energy and Utilities
AdDespite the negative close for the broader index, several companies posted notable gains, particularly in the energy and utilities sectors. Terna Rete Elettrica Nazionale SpA (BIT:TRN), an electricity transmission operator, was the top performer on the index, rising 2.88%.
Meanwhile, integrated energy company Eni SpA (BIT:ENI) added 2.53%, and aerospace and defense firm Leonardo SpA (BIT:LDOF) was up 2.30%. These gains occurred as commodity markets saw a rally in energy prices, with both Crude and Brent oil futures rising over 3.5%.
Broader Market Context
The move in Italian equities came amid a mixed performance in global commodities and currencies. Gold futures for August delivery rose a modest 0.71% to trade at $4,020.25 a troy ounce. Major currency pairs were relatively stable, with the EUR/USD and EUR/GBP showing little change, while the US Dollar Index Futures edged up 0.03%.
