ICE Canola Futures Climb Ahead of Key Statistics Canada Crop Report

ICE canola futures closed higher on Monday, with market participants positioning themselves ahead of an upcoming government report on crop production. The November canola contract rose $6.10 to settle at $823 per metric ton.
Market Awaits Production Data
The primary focus for traders is the forthcoming report from Statistics Canada, scheduled for release on Wednesday. This will be the agency's first production estimate for Canada's canola, spring wheat, durum, and other key crops.
Market participants are anticipating that Statistics Canada will forecast a canola crop of approximately 22 million tons, according to the source. Trading volume remained light as farmers have reportedly shown little interest in aggressive selling amid the recent price rally.
Support from Broader Markets
AdCanola prices also found support from strength in the energy and broader vegetable oil complexes. A rise in crude oil prices typically benefits canola due to its use in producing vegetable oil.
Key related market movements on Monday included:
- Brent crude oil gained 1.5%, trading above $106 per barrel.
- Chicago soyoil futures rose 0.73%.
- Soybean futures increased by 0.6%.
