Background

Honeywell Aerospace announced on Monday two significant agreements with major international carriers, securing a deal to equip a massive new fleet for Indian airline IndiGo and another to deploy advanced safety technology for Aeromexico.

IndiGo's Fleet Expansion

In a major win for its aerospace division, Honeywell said it was selected by IndiGo to supply a comprehensive suite of avionics and power systems for the airline's order of 810 Airbus A320neo-family aircraft. The agreement builds on a relationship that began in 2015.

The hardware and support package for IndiGo includes:

  • Auxiliary power units (APUs)
  • Weather radar
  • Traffic collision avoidance systems (TCAS)
  • Flight management systems
  • Aftermarket support

IndiGo, a key low-cost carrier in Asia, currently operates a fleet of more than 400 aircraft. This large-scale avionics deal positions Honeywell as a critical supplier for one of the world's fastest-growing airlines.

Aeromexico Boosts Runway Safety

Separately, Honeywell announced that Aeromexico will deploy its Surface Alerts (SURF-A) runway safety technology across its fleet of more than 100 Boeing 737 NG and 737 MAX jets. The system is designed to prevent runway collisions by providing pilots with real-time aural and visual alerts.

Honeywell's SURF-A technology uses GPS data, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) equipment, and software analytics to identify potential traffic hazards on the ground. The company noted that it expects U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification for the system on several Boeing aircraft to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 and continue into 2027.

Financial Impact

Honeywell did not disclose the financial terms of either agreement in its statements. However, the deals underscore the company's strong position in the commercial aviation market, securing long-term revenue from both new aircraft production and the retrofitting of existing fleets with next-generation safety systems.
