Hacking Group Anubis Claims Responsibility for Coca-Cola's fairlife Cyberattack

The hacking group Anubis claimed responsibility on Tuesday for a cyberattack against fairlife, a dairy company owned by The Coca-Cola Company (KO). In a post on its dark web site, the group threatened to publish stolen data unless it receives an unspecified ransom, according to a report from Reuters.
Ransom Demand and Data Theft
Anubis alleged it had stolen 1 terabyte of data from the Chicago-based dairy producer. This type of attack, known as ransomware, involves paralyzing a victim's network and often exfiltrating sensitive data to pressure the company into payment.
As of Tuesday, Coca-Cola had not immediately responded to a request for comment on the claim, Reuters reported. The hackers also did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
Production Halted by Attack
The claim follows Coca-Cola's disclosure last week that a hack had forced a temporary suspension of production at fairlife's U.S. facilities. Fairlife is known for its filtered milk drinks and protein shakes.
AdThe incident highlights the significant operational risks that cyberattacks pose to major corporations and their supply chains, capable of disrupting physical production and distribution in addition to compromising data.
A Notorious Hacking Group
Anubis is one of several cybercriminal gangs employing ransomware tactics. These groups typically threaten to leak stolen information to increase leverage during ransom negotiations.
According to a 2025 analysis by cybersecurity firm Trend Micro cited by Reuters, Anubis's operations are considered particularly disruptive. The group is known for using file-wiping software, a destructive technique that can permanently erase data and complicate recovery efforts for victims.
