Google Expands 'Beam' Video Conferencing Tech to Six Countries, Partners with Industrious

Summary
Google is rolling out its advanced video conferencing product, Google Beam, to six international markets and has partnered with flexible workspace operator Industrious to create an extended network.
Google announced it is expanding its advanced video conferencing product, Google Beam, to six countries and launching a network through a strategic partnership with premium flexible workspace provider Industrious. The move signals a significant push into the enterprise and hybrid work technology market.
International Rollout and Enterprise Adoption
According to the company's announcement, Google Beam units are now shipping to customers in the U.S., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, and Japan. The product, delivered as HP Dimension with Google Beam, is being deployed and supported by a network of 18 channel partners.
Several major corporations are among the first to adopt the technology, including Netflix and Capital Group. Consulting firm Bain and Company also tested the system for campus recruiting and interviews. "Google Beam allows us to virtually understand how people will engage in person, which is critically important for their success at Bain," said Keith Bevans, EVP and Partner at Bain & Company, highlighting its utility in assessing nuanced body language.
Partnership with Industrious
To broaden access to the technology, Google has partnered with Industrious. Starting in October, HP Dimension with Google Beam will be available for booking at select Industrious locations, including offices in Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, and Palo Alto.
AdA pilot program for the partnership was used by distributed teams for manager check-ins, client consultations, and interviews. This collaboration allows companies to use the high-end conferencing technology without a direct capital investment in the hardware.
Market Context
The Google Beam system, which integrates with both Google Meet and Zoom, is designed to create a more immersive and connected feeling for hybrid teams. An eight-week internal study conducted by Google found that teams using the technology reported significant improvements:
- 50% felt more connected to one another
- 33% found it easier to ensure their feedback was understood
- 21% saw a reduction in the need for follow-up meetings
Google stated it is also expanding its own internal deployment of Beam for its employees in parallel with the customer rollouts.
