Getinge Shares Surge to 52-Week High on Strong Q2 Profitability

Shares of Getinge (STO:GETI-B) surged on Wednesday, hitting a new 52-week high after the Swedish medical technology company reported robust second-quarter earnings that significantly beat profitability expectations and confirmed its full-year outlook.
Strong Profitability and One-Time Gain
Getinge posted an adjusted EBITA margin of 17.6% for the second quarter of 2026, a figure that caught the market's attention. According to the company's interim report, profitability was bolstered by a one-time tariff refund of approximately SEK 336 million.
Beyond the refund, the strong margin was also supported by a favorable product mix, ongoing price adjustments, and productivity improvements. In the report, CEO Mattias Perjos described the quarter's results as "strong both financially and operationally with several important key achievements."
Segment Performance and Outlook
The company reported solid momentum across most of its business areas. The Acute Care Therapies and Surgical Workflows segments both saw healthy growth. The Life Science division showed a more mixed performance, with its high-margin Sterile Transfer category posting double-digit growth in orders and sales.
AdThis strength helped offset softness in capital-intensive products, where investment from the pharmaceutical sector remains constrained by geopolitical uncertainty, the company noted. Crucially, Getinge reiterated its full-year 2026 organic sales growth guidance of 3–5%, a key signal of management's confidence that resonated with investors.
Market Reaction
Investors reacted positively to the news, sending Getinge's stock up by 7.1% in Stockholm trading, reaching an intraday 52-week high of 232.2 SEK. The rally was entirely company-driven, standing in sharp contrast to the broader market, which saw major U.S. indices trading significantly lower on the day.
The combination of a strong profitability beat, resilient underlying growth, and a stable full-year forecast prompted a significant positive shift in market sentiment for the stock.
