Frameless Gallery has launched a new browser-based platform for displaying Ethereum-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs), offering a solution for owners of TokenFrame hardware and extending compatibility to any screen with a web browser. The launch, announced Tuesday, addresses a gap for collectors who previously relied on TokenFrame's original, now-discontinued software platform.

Platform Features and Compatibility

The Frameless Gallery platform operates directly through a web browser, removing dependency on specific manufacturer software. This allows owners of compatible TokenFrame hardware to continue managing and showcasing their digital art collections. The service is designed to be hardware-agnostic, extending support beyond TokenFrame to include Android displays, smart TVs, computers, and Raspberry Pi systems.

The platform supports a wide range of NFT formats, including static images, animations, videos, and sandboxed live HTML for generative artwork. It also features playback controls for both live and static pieces and automatically measures artwork to create playlists that adapt to different screen orientations.

Access Tiers and Security

Frameless Gallery is available with a free tier that allows users to display any publicly accessible Ethereum NFT by entering its URL. For more advanced features, the company offers Frameless Gallery Pro for a one-time fee of $9.99.

The Pro upgrade allows users to:

  • Import entire collections using a public Ethereum address or an Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain.
  • Create and manage curated exhibitions and slideshows.
  • Access additional display controls and playlist features.

A key aspect of the platform is its security model. Frameless Gallery retrieves collection data from the public blockchain and does not require users to connect a cryptocurrency wallet, sign a transaction, or provide private keys or seed phrases.

Market Context

The platform was created to ensure the continued utility of specialized digital art hardware. According to a statement from the company, the goal is to support collectors who have invested in both digital assets and the physical frames designed to display them.

“Frameless Gallery was created to give collectors another way to continue using those displays while putting the artwork at the center of the experience,” said Anthony Anger, Founder of Frameless Gallery, in the announcement. The service aims to preserve the value of collectors' hardware investments in the event of discontinued software support from original manufacturers.
