Evommune Shares Tumble After Atopic Dermatitis Drug Fails Mid-Stage Trial

Shares of Evommune (EVMN) plunged in pre-market trading after the company announced its experimental drug, EVO756, failed to meet primary and secondary endpoints in a Phase 2b clinical trial for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis. The company confirmed it will discontinue the development of EVO756 for this indication, representing a significant setback for its clinical pipeline.
Trial Fails to Show Efficacy
Evommune reported Tuesday evening that the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study did not achieve its primary goal. The main objective was to show a significant percent change in the Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) score from baseline at Week 12. The trial, which enrolled 121 adults, failed to demonstrate a benefit over placebo across all doses studied.
The stock reacted sharply to the news, falling 13.9% to $11.26 in pre-open trading. This decline pushes the share price closer to its 52-week low of $10.47 and significantly below its 52-week high of $33.20.
Second Setback for EVO756
This is the second consecutive Phase 2b failure for EVO756 in 2026, a development that has weighed on investor confidence. Earlier this year, the drug candidate also failed to meet its primary endpoint in a trial for chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU). That failure prompted Evommune to discontinue the CSU program and led to a downgrade from William Blair to Market Perform.
AdAccording to the source, a pattern of insider stock sales by senior executives in recent months has further pressured investor sentiment. The negative clinical data was compounded by a broader risk-off market environment, with major U.S. indices also trading lower.
Shift in Pipeline Focus
With two of EVO756's most promising near-term indications now shelved, the company's valuation will increasingly depend on its other assets. Evommune stated it still intends to develop EVO756 in a Phase 2b study for migraine prophylaxis.
Investor focus will now likely shift to the company's other lead candidate, EVO301, an IL-18 binding protein fusion in Phase 2b development for atopic dermatitis and ulcerative colitis. Despite the setback, Evercore ISI reportedly maintained its Buy rating on the stock, though broader analyst opinion remains divided.
