Etihad Airways Reportedly Nearing Deal for 10 Boeing 787 Jets

Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways is nearing a deal to order 10 Boeing 787 wide-body jets, with an announcement potentially coming at this month’s Farnborough Airshow, according to industry sources. Both Etihad and Boeing have declined to comment on the matter.

The sources cautioned that negotiations are ongoing and a final agreement is not guaranteed ahead of the industry event, which is scheduled for July 20-24 in Britain.

The potential order aligns with comments made last month by Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves, who stated the airline was considering an order for a "double-digit number" of wide-body planes, without providing further specifics.

This development comes as Etihad restores flight capacity that was reduced in March amid rising fuel prices. According to reports, air traffic in the Middle East is recovering, with Gulf hubs seeing a return toward normal passenger volumes.
