Doximity Stock Declines After Analyst Downgrade Cites Valuation Concerns

Shares of Doximity (NYSE: DOCS) slipped in pre-market trading after Freedom Capital downgraded the digital health platform to Hold from Buy. The firm cited the stock's sharp post-earnings rally as a key factor, arguing that it has left limited near-term upside for investors.
Analyst Downgrade Details
Freedom Capital set a new price target of $27 per share for Doximity. Analysts at the firm highlighted management's decision to trim its full-year EBITDA guidance as a point of concern for near-term profitability.
Doximity's leadership recently lowered the midpoint of its full-year EBITDA outlook to $319 million from a prior $329 million. The company attributed the revision to increased investment in artificial intelligence, which is expected to pressure margins even as the company builds out its AI-powered products.
A Shifting Wall Street Consensus
The downgrade from Freedom Capital follows a trend of increasing caution from analysts after Doximity's stock surged in early August. That rally was fueled by CEO Jeff Tangney's comments that the company's AI search product generates more than ten times the revenue it costs to operate.
AdFollowing that sharp price increase, several other firms tempered their outlook:
- Wells Fargo moved its rating to Underweight, arguing the AI narrative is difficult to translate into concrete earnings estimates.
- J.P. Morgan reiterated its Hold rating, reflecting a more divided Wall Street view on whether the company's current valuation is justified.
Market and Industry Context
A broader risk-off tone in U.S. equity markets provided an unfavorable backdrop for growth-oriented technology stocks. The stock's decline also comes as the market continues to assess the state of pharmaceutical advertising budgets, which are a core driver of Doximity's revenue. While these budgets have been tight, some analysts see early signs of stabilization that could become a positive catalyst in future quarters.
