Deribit and SignalPlus Launch $600,000 Crypto Derivatives Trading Competition

Crypto derivatives exchange Deribit and trading software provider SignalPlus have launched "The Island," a 35-day trading competition with a prize pool of up to $600,000 USDC. The event, their fifth and largest to date, is designed to boost engagement among sophisticated retail traders in the crypto options and futures markets.
The competition, which is run by Deribit's broker-dealer DRB Panama Inc., requires participants to trade on the Deribit platform using the SignalPlus interface. According to the announcement, the event is not intended for residents of Dubai, UAE.
Competition Structure and Rules
The event focuses on rewarding trading volume and frequent activity through a multi-faceted structure that includes both solo and team-based leaderboards.
Key details of the competition include:
- Total Prize Pool: Up to $600,000 USDC
- Competition Period: July 6, 2026, 08:00 UTC – August 10, 2026, 23:59 UTC
- Registration Period: June 29, 2026, 08:00 UTC – August 10, 2026, 23:59 UTC

AdNew Features and Executive Commentary
This year's competition introduces new mechanics such as a "Mystery Box" deposit bonus, a weekly Profit and Loss (P&L) leaderboard, and a "Flash Arena" designed to reward high-volume trading in short-dated options. The prize pool includes a range of premium items like a Rolex watch, Apple Vision Pro, and NVIDIA stock, in addition to USDC rewards.
"The Island brings together everything we want this competition to be: bigger scale, stronger participation loops, and a structure that rewards how active options traders actually engage," said Luuk Strijers, Senior Director from Deribit by Coinbase. He described it as the firm's "most ambitious retail trading campaign yet."
Chris Yu, CEO and Co-Founder of SignalPlus, added that the goal is to create "a more immersive experience for sophisticated retail traders." He noted the design aims to make participation more dynamic, whether competing on volume or engaging in daily missions.
Market Context
Large-scale trading competitions are a common strategy for exchanges and trading platforms to stimulate liquidity, acquire new users, and increase overall platform engagement. The partnership between an exchange like Deribit, which facilitates the majority of global crypto options volume, and a specialized software provider like SignalPlus highlights a strategic effort to attract and retain experienced retail traders by offering advanced tools and significant incentives.
