Crusoe to Provide Nvidia AI Chips to Perplexity in Multiyear Cloud Deal

Data center operator Crusoe has entered into a multiyear cloud agreement with artificial intelligence search company Perplexity AI Inc., signaling its continued expansion into renting specialized AI chips and software.
Key Terms of the Agreement
Under the terms of the deal, Perplexity AI will utilize Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ: NVDA) chips from Crusoe's infrastructure to train and operate its AI models. Crusoe will be responsible for managing the technology throughout the agreement's lifetime, according to an interview with Crusoe Senior Vice President Erwan Menard cited by Bloomberg News.
In a reciprocal arrangement, Crusoe will provide its more than 1,800 employees with access to Perplexity’s Enterprise Max AI product. The companies did not disclose the financial details of the partnership.
AdCompetitive Landscape
The agreement marks a significant step for Crusoe as it works to grow its cloud unit, which competes with other specialized providers, or "neoclouds," such as CoreWeave Inc. and Nebius Group NV. These firms focus on providing customers with high-demand AI chips and the accompanying software stack, a market segment experiencing rapid growth.
Crusoe operates data centers for several large-scale AI projects, including OpenAI’s flagship Stargate data center located in Abilene, Texas. This new partnership with Perplexity AI further solidifies Crusoe's position as a key infrastructure provider for the artificial intelligence industry.
